Do I have to pay? A holier-than-thou fucktard told me that spiritual work should be free!
Yes, you do; your friend has a piss poor grasp of economics. This is a chunk of what I do for a living. My landlord doesn't have the facilities to process cheques for amounts of goodwill, from the bank of Love 'n' light. Nor does the grocery store I use, nor any of my utilities.
I value my time. Performing the work I do is taking increasingly more of my day. I put a great deal of energy, effort and
attention to detail into my readings and it can be quite draining for me. Monetary compensation
for my work puts me in a position to continue offering my insight. I also have to pay for hosting this place. I don't try to run off donations because that's silly. I'll decide what my time is worth, thanks.
Go tell someone you consider to have a *proper* job that they should work for free, and see what reaction you get.
Here's an article I wrote a ways back for a friend's monthly
Dispelling The Money Myth:
I've often heard it said that it is WRONG to ask for payment for Psychic or Tarot readings, healings and other spiritual and psychic talents. Wrong by who's standards? Ah yes, "Them", the secret judges of morality.
I give my energy, time and skill when I work for a client, and they pay me as compensation. This is no different from anyone else using a talent to support themselves; singers, seamstresses, artists.. we all need to eat. Payment indicates a professional approach; I owe the Client a duty of service; I must earn their money. It puts the Client in the driving seat, whereas a freebie, a favour, call it what you like, is done at the Practitioner's discretion. It likely won't contain the effort and attention to detail that a paid, personal service will. Someone offering free healing doesn't care if you return. I do.
While it seems very loving and "fluffy new age" to share such gifts for free, it does more harm than good to both parties. The Practitioner is inundated with requests and becomes resentful of the Client. The Practitioner is drained of time, emotion and energy. Some Clients superglue themselves to the Practitioner, unable to go to the bathroom without a full "Celtic Cross" Tarot spread to examine their options. The energy in this situation is definitely not balanced.
Which brings me to donations. "Donations are ok!" "They" cry. I'd rather not let someone else define what my time is worth and dictate how much money I should require to live on. If your Boss "donated" to your bank account, would you be 100 percent sure that he'd pay you enough to cover your mortgage? With a clear price structure and summary of what it buys, the Client knows what they can expect from me. The reciprocity of a paid service ensures both Client and Practitioner are equal. The giving and receiving of energy then goes ahead with no further debt or obligation. The Client leaves the healing session or reading feeling empowered, and the Practitioner is able to switch off from performing the Client's work without feeling drained.
All good readers and healers abide by a code of ethics which states that they do not take financial advantage of a vulnerable client. Detractors often accuse us of fostering dependence for financial gain. I say that the involvement of money REDUCES the risk of a client becoming dependent on me. My clients come from all walks of life, but all have in common that they are discerning people who have chosen to spend money on the services I offer. Free readings and healings render this discernment unnecessary. Parting with cash encourages the buyer to think before they chose a service.
"Free" readings that I sometimes offer to close friends or regular customers do not lack reciprocity I spoke of earlier. Relationships, by definition, involve energy exchange. While these exchanges aren't written on some chit sheet, they are a tacit element of any relationship.
The fact that I, and many others in my field charge for our work should tell you something very important. We value and respect our time, ourselves and YOU.
Are you real?
Yep. I'm real.. are you?
How in the holy fuck do you manage to do this freaky stuff?
don't know the actual mechanics of it.. I've always been able to focus on a person and read their
energy to get insight and information. I just... know. I can name about fifty people I know IRL who forever babble about how strong my energy is even when I'm half the country away.
What can YOU do for ME?
What do you want me to do? If it is derivate fluffy crap, then jog on. I can help you make tough decisions, stop demons from eating you, warn you of problems that you might be facing, and give you a head start on fixing your issues. If you pay me enough, probably quite a lot of things.
What my Powerz are NOT:
They are not a substitute for medical, psychiatric, financial or career advice, nor an alternative to relationship counselling. They aren't glittery or fluffy, or egalitarian.
